A More Universal Fit.

Because the AF-RS170 is fed water from the top, it is easy to integrate into nearly any sump setup. Simply place your pipe drain or tubing directly above the unit- no fittings required.

This unit's dimensions and technical specs make it an especially ideal fit for the popular Red Sea REEFER 170, but it can also be used with other Red Sea models and similar sumps.

How Does it Work?

Water is fed top-side directly into the AF-RS170's internal chamber via a pipe or drain tubing. The water is then filtered through the exposed fleece. As the fleece begins to clog with detritus, uneaten food, and organic waste, the water will rise within the unit's chamber until it reaches the water level switch, which then triggers the AF-RS170's motor to wind the filter roll to a new, fresh piece. The water level will then drop, and the process will repeat itself until the roll is near its end.
